quemado

This morning I listened to my new project Goto. After a few adjustments (order, relevance of the songs), my ears decided that it's finished. 10 songs and 41 minutes.

Traffic Jam
Où va la vie
I love you
Ebréché
Goto
Are visages electric?
Alabama gay
My house
La chambre noire
Je suis pour

The atmosphere is strange and confusing. Not happy, not sad. The songs don't sound like songs. I wasn't sure about this Goto album 3 months ago. But now, I love it and think: it's really me. John Talaga (Fashion Flesh) who also works with Momus, added the final and magic touch on many of the songs; David Fenech lent his voice on one song. This photo will become the cover; it was taken in Quemado, at night.

me

I was surprised when we met with our friend Carolin.a from San Diego/Lebanon/Mexico in Paris. As I showed her the posters of our future President in the street, she said: who is he? I don't want to vote for him on sunday, because I feel like he will be a puppet in the hands of the worst capitalists like G.W. Bush in the US. I don't want to vote for Ségolène Royal because she is a socialist and socialism means that the ones who take risks and make money from that risk, are punished with taxes. Socialism knows how to spend money, not how to make it. I don't want to vote for José Bové because a man who destroyed a Mac Donald and cut a GMO field, should not be allowed to be part of the competition. I don't want to vote for Les Verts because the right place for them is in the parlement, not in a President seat. I don't want to vote for Jean-Marie Le Pen, because he is a man whose ink is made of hate. Remember 2002: we had Le Pen against Chirac on the second tour! Bye bye Jacques... I wrote a song for you about your friendship with † Saddam (demo on myspace).

coup de soleil

This new april is like an ex-july, very hot. Like the new december was an ex-april. It has nothing to do with the old dicton: "en avril, ne te découvre pas d'un fil; en mai, fais ce qu'il te plaît". This is why I propose an action against global warming and climate disorder: every participant involved gets sun burned, what we call in France a coup de soleil, like the one of the photo. You can do this demonstration alone, on the beach for instance. Every coup de soleil is a protest act against the global warming. A small coup de soleil on your nose could mean that you disagree with the petrol industry. A coup de soleil on your shoulder says that you're condemning the chinese coal factories. A coup de soleil on your butt is a civic message against Hummer.

ronceray

I have just finished to read Luis Bunuel's autobiography "Mon Dernier soupir". Jean-Claude Carrière co-wrote this book, as he co-signed many of Bunuel's movies. Sometimes I can see him walking down my street, since Carrière lives in an ancien brothel on the top of it. He was playing this terrible priest in Journal d'une femme de chambre, with Jeanne Moreau. Bunuel was conceived in the 9th arrondissement in this hotel Ronceray that I see everyday. It's a famous location, because you have le passage des panoramas right here. It's also the place where you will find the wax museum; to have been conceived near a wax museum is very Bunuel, I guess.

duralex

1. First God made heaven & earth 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters. 3 And God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. 6 And God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters." 7 And God made the firmament and separated the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament. And it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day. 9 And God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." And it was so. 10 God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 11 And God said, "Let the earth put forth vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, upon the earth." And it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening and there was morning, a third day. 14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth." And it was so. 16 And God made the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. 20 And God said, "Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the firmament of the heavens." 21 So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth." 23 And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day. 24 And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds." And it was so. 25 And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the cattle according to their kinds, and everything that creeps upon the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth." 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth." 29 And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food." And it was so. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, a sixth day."

In the first verses of the Genesis, the verb "to see" is prominent. As it seems, it's the first of the 5 senses. We don't read "and God smelled that it was good", or "and God felt that it was good", or "and God heared that it was good", or "and God tasted that it was good". We can read: "and God saw that it was good". I have always thought that Jesus's love for the poors and especially the blind persons, the numerous miracles towards them, was his personal response to this insistance.

arbres sans fleursarbre en fleursabeillebe romantic

It's a strange between seasons moment, in which nature makes you forget about all the things you read everywhere... Also, there is no need to go to Japan to see beautiful blooming trees.

marclay.back

Christian Marclay, Cité de la musique: his video GUITAR DRAG should be played to every rock band. After watching it, they'd be able to choose the electric guitar instead of just taking it because it was there, or because they loved this guitarist/singer with blond hair. You never choose the electric guitar as an instrument, because this is an attitude-instrument. This is why the electric guitar gave birth to a lot of fashion. Christian Marclay is killing the attitude (for purifying the instrument?) by dragging the Fender with a car in the forest, in the dust, on the Texas roads, while it's being plugged and amplified and screams endlessly. The guitar is like a Christ in this film. After such a treatment/trauma, it can live again.

Cité de la musique has a musée de la musique. I saw a lot of clavecins, pianos, épinettes, luths, guitares, brass and ethnic instruments. I didn't see electronic instruments. No Musical Telegraph (1876), no Theremin (1917), no Ondes Martenot (1928), no Trautonium (1930), no Ondioline (1938), no Clavioline (1948), no Moog (1965)... We already are in the next step, the electronic instruments being dematerialized. In such a modern building, how is it possible to not have one floor devoted to this extraordinary history? Electronic instruments have the right to enter the museum, they are our past.

The film about Jean-Jacques Perrey leads me to many interesting directions, such as Michel Gondry's grand father Constant Martin, inventor of the electronic bells, the electronic church organ and the Clavioline. The Clavioline was a french synthesizer created in the late 40's, like Georges Jenny's Ondioline. Michel Gondry will talk about his electronic gran-pa in the film, which is a very good news. It's strange that Constant Martin had his atelier in Versailles, capital of the 90's french touch. I always believed that a certain place hosts a certain spirit. In Versailles, there is an electronic dinosaur walking in a fantomatic way, grazing the pelouses of the Château de Versailles. Maybe it comes from the otaku spirit of Louis XVI, the man who preferred the joys of locks than the ones of sex, as Sofia Coppola shows us in her gorgious movie Marie Antoinette.

music for free

Music is free, music is everywhere, there are tons of music available, good music, music of all sorts, free, free everywhere. Musicians don't need to get payed for what they like to do, because they are already payed: they get pleasure, they give pleasure...

"The music scene of Japan has been in the worst situation in the past several years. The mass media controls people and they just believe its information. Magazines and TV persist only in the major artists who offer immense advertising money or the artists of their own country". (Rallye)
