It's not that easy to hunt buffalos in national parks, where the 4X4 trucks and guns are forbidden. And not easy at all to paint the buffalo hunt, because everything's happening so fast, you have to draw very quickly, the fastest you can. Most of these paintings have been made within a few seconds, and it's a real exploit. Buffalos are very shy and don't want to be painted, this is why they run so fast. On the images below, you see what happens at those places sadly named buffalo jumps, when the buffalos are committing collective suicides to escape the power of image, thanks to the painter's decoy wearing buffalo fur. But even there, they can't get away from the painter's eye.
