Emily Haines from Metric has an extraordinary voice. I remember asking over and over for getting their demo, 5 years ago (they were friends with Stars, a band who played Le Grand Magistery showcases in New York).
She's also writing. I asked her to give me the right for publishing some of her texts in the TO 1 magazine but I had no response... didn't know they were "working on getting famous" (Momus words on "Miss X").
