PASOLINI-PENNAweb

Pasolini: I love Sandro Penna's poetry and he was Penna's friend. Both were gay poets. I'm a gay poet too, without being homosexual. The best response I received for my poetry always came from gay readers or publishers, as if the essence of my lyricism was gay. Bernardo Bertolucci's father, the poet Attilio Bertolucci, helped Pasolini to become a writer in the early 50's. It's funny to see how poetry crosses cinema in this house where Attilio, Bernardo (also a poet) and Pasolini's family were neighbours for many years. I recall when we went to see Ninetto Davoli, Pasolini's biggest love & acteur fétiche, when he came to Marseille around 1993 or 1994. Tonight I watched a 1966 french documentary about Pasolini; you see Davoli's real family house, with a Davoli cardboard sign on the front door in some poor Roma suburbs. Pasolini was so destroyed when Ninetto decided to marry a woman, that he wrote more than one hundred sonnets. He was so destroyed that he prophetized his own death in one sonnet, announcing the specific circomstances of his death (prostitution, car, robbery).

"Il redoutait en outre de voir comment la télévision et le pouvoir d’Etat, en étroite connivence, étaient en train de façonner et manipuler le peuple. Il voulait dénoncer cela avec vigueur. Il trouvait qu’il y avait une sorte de conjuration des politiques et des médias pour abrutir la population." (Ninetto Davoli, 1995)

I'd like to know if there are good net radios, without words; something that's not bothering your attention and keeps you concentrated. There's no FM radio in France that you can listen to while writing or drawing...

And of course, I'm very happy with all my American friends! Congratulations.

Branford Clarke

"So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!" His disciples remembered that it is written: zeal for your house will consume me." (John 2-13)

I think of Jesus anger as a prophecy for modern times, our global world having been turned into a market. I can hear Jesus saying to the financial districts of the big cities: "How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!". It was not only a reaction against the mercantilism that has entered the Jerusalem temple, but an accomplishment of old prophecies and one sign for today, resoundind all over the world... The making a whip probably takes a few minutes; I see it as a cinematographic focus. It shows that Jesus anger was more than a fly into a subit rage, it was a sainte colère.

Palindrome of Obama (follows what preceeded) is Amabo. Amabo is the future latin form of amo, I love. One future with love would be a big change. No palindrome of Barack, but Kcarab. So Kcarab Amabo will love scarabs and also, the arab people. Good!

Contemporary poetry is a garage: one dismantels, puts it back, changes spare parts, repaints, tests the motor, without getting out of the garage. What I do is driving on the highway and there is nobody.

“The story always comes from pictures I want to see,” he said.

On peut enfin acheter mon livre en France sur Amazon, paru fin 2007 chez l'éditeur Le Quartanier. Dépêchez-vous, il en reste un... et encore merci pour la poésie!

The rich from the past were poorer than today poors: they had no running water nor electricity.

Here is a real house in the Bahamas. Not in a good shape. But you can see a red 'welcome' sign under the little tower, which means hope: the house is still standing, ready for being renewed. So what the point with a fragile house in the Bahamas? If you translate 'I have a house in the Bahamas' in french, it makes: 'j'ai une maison aux Bahamas'. But you can also say: 'j'ai une baraque aux Bahamas', which is the slang word for maison. Understood? 'Baraque aux Bahamas'; the one you see on the photo is the one Barack will receive in a few days if he's becoming the next President of the USA. Still standing, but a lot of work, with hope. And here is a 1968 archive of the french television, showing John Mac Cain when he was a prisoner in Viet Nam after his 23rd pilot raid on Hanoï.
